VersionTracker is an automated file monitoring service that tracks changes to your online files (e.g. JSON, XML, HTML, CSS, JS, TXT and more), sends you instant notifications when they change and stores every version. It's perfect for monitoring APIs, configuration files, web content, and more.
You add the URL of the file you want to monitor. VersionTracker checks it at your chosen interval (from 30 seconds to 5 minutes depending on your plan), compares it, and notifies you via email when changes are detected. Every version is automatically saved to your account for comparison.
We currently support: JSON, XML, HTML, CSS, JS, and TXT files. All files must be publicly accessible via HTTP/HTTPS URLs.
No! VersionTracker is 100% cloud-based. Just sign up, add your file URLs, and we handle everything. No downloads, no installations, no configuration files.
Yes! Our free plan allows you to monitor up to 5 files with 5-minute (300s) check intervals and 30-day history. It's perfect for personal projects and testing. No credit card required to start. The paid plans offer higher limits and additional features.
Paid plans (Essential, Advanced, Premium) include a 14-day free trial. You won't be charged until the trial ends. The free plan is free forever.
Absolutely! You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time; changes take effect immediately and we'll prorate your billing accordingly. For cancellation, you can choose to end your subscription immediately or at the end of your billing period (you keep access until then).
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) and PayPal. All payments are securely processed through Paddle, our payment provider. Enterprise clients can pay via invoice.
Paddle (paddle.com) is our official reseller. Invoices and payment processing are handled by Paddle.
Logged-in users can go to Account Settings → Billing and click Manage to open the Paddle customer portal, where you can update your payment method, cancel your subscription, or view invoices.
We don't offer refunds, once the subscription started. But every plan includes a 14-day free trial! Take your time to explore all features risk-free before committing to a paid plan.
We use SHA256 cryptographic hashing to detect changes. This means we can identify even a single character change with 100% accuracy.
All data is stored securely on servers in Helsinki, Finland (EU). File snapshots are stored with encryption. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms, and payment data is handled securely by Paddle (our payment processor) — we never store credit card information on our own servers. We are GDPR compliant.
Currently, files must be publicly accessible via HTTP/HTTPS. Support for basic authentication and API keys is coming soon in a future update.
We aim for high availability and monitor our infrastructure 24/7 with automated failover systems in place. Higher-tier plans may include additional SLA guarantees.
Yes! You can export your file versions. All historic versions can be downloaded in the user interface.

We typically respond within 24 hours for free users and faster for Essential and higher-tier plan customers.
Yes. You can create multiple accounts (e.g. for work vs. personal or as agencies with multiple clients). Billing is per account. You can switch between accounts in the dashboard.
Yes. Advanced and Premium plans include team members and invitations so you can collaborate on the same account. The Free and Essential plans are for a single user per account.
